More orgonite shots

by on Aug.17, 2014, under Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

I was talking to a friend the other day who said “I wish there was some kind of cup of orgonite where I could put my SP without having to cast it… and I reminded her that they already exist… cause I made some a few years back.  I did a special casting for her with three different ones.  One is copper only, one is aluminum only and one is made with mixed metals.

Lots of tourmaline

by on Jun.18, 2014, under Crystals, Orgone, Slideshow blog

I just got these new molds and decided they were perfect for making some gifting pieces with lots of tourmaline – I put in a couple of spoonfuls of tourmaline mix and the pieces came out just as expected 🙂  They are quite heavier than TB’s…

a closer look…

The sheep were not that interested – it’s not edible… but had a look anyway…

And Inspector Bob had to make sure it was all good too… he’s interested in everything…

Lena’s herb garden

by on May.31, 2014, under Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

Just finished getting my garden box for herbs ready and decided to make a special piece for it.  Have had this mold for a while but not used it and thought it would be just perfect… I cast the frog in clear resin and then painted the body with green Pearl-ex to make it blend better.  Looks pretty happy to me 🙂

When pouring…

I feel… watched…

and then I turn around…

They hide in the strangest places in the shop… silently… sneakily…

Orgonite Green Man with Pearl-Ex

by on Dec.23, 2013, under Crystals, Orgone

I had a thought this morning about casting Pearl-Ex pigments in a different way by not mixing it into the resin, just brushing the colored powder into the mold before casting.  Had no idea how it would come out but like the way it did.

This one has brass, copper and aluminum along with some other things.  I brushed the gold powder into the mold before casting, the mold was made from silicone.  I actually used green resin but one can’t really tell…

Once this had had come out of the mold there was a bunch of gold powder still in the mold so I decided to cast another one with black iron oxide in the mix, it came out kinda interesting:

Here they are together:

Of course I then had to try making other things by just brushing the Pearl-Ex into the mold before pouring, I used a Q-tip.

You can actually make fabulous looking pieces with brown resin by just brushing the mold with some color beforehand…  These are made with black iron oxide in resin with aluminum and brass in the pieces as well as a single terminated Madagascar point.

These are made with aluminum powder in resin which make it grey but it does show off the Pearl-Ex:

Happy bunch 🙂

I had some TB’s out curing in the sunshine when “The Ladies” decided to take a closer look.

Casting with Osha root

by on Aug.26, 2013, under Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

It was discussed and asked on our forum if anyone had cast orgone pieces with Osha root and none had so I decided to try… and now I will share my thoughts on why it may not be a good idea…

One of my goats somehow found a bag of it that I had been given and forgotten about in our bathroom…  After it was discussed as an experiment on the board I got everything ready.

I mixed up some resin and decided to try it three different ways.  Three martini glasses were used and the first one just got a tip of clear resin, the second one I mixed in just a spoonful of Osha root into the resin and the third one I mixed in copper shavings with the root.  I got this started and decided to go photograph this hornets nest down the road that had I wanted to take a picture of.  I got down there and went “what!!!” since the nest had been destroyed just a few minutes before, it was laying on the ground they were all buzzing around, angry and confused.  I then saw bear tracks heading up the hill and realized that some poor bear had walked into this nest and then rushed up the hill just before I got there…  Didn’t take any photos then… but got one today, here is the nest on the ground:

I went home and finished my pieces and realized that any resin that had the root in it had not cured – there must be some oils on it that prevented it from hardening.  The glass that I had mixed copper shavings and root together in had hardened on the bottom where the copper was but the root was floating on top and that resin was completely uncured…  I had to figure out how to solve that so made some resin with extra hardener that I put in the next layer and hoped for the best.  The glass that had just resin with root in the tip was uncured so I just carried on and made the HHG as usual.  That one I had to double cast since the tip was a mess:

Here is a picture of the two I made (the third one I decided to do something else with):

Each one:

The first one I had to double cast to get the stickiness out, the second one that has the second layer with the root is spongy and probably will be forever.

Then it got really crazy last night… when our dog started barking like mad late at night… and would not stop for three hours…  She has never done that before and kept wanting to run out in the yard to scare something off, using the biggest voice she has to tell them “don’t come here”.  She kept barking even after I brought her in and cause there must be a bear outside and that is why she kept alerting, running to the window, sniffing and letting us know with her most serious voice.

It was 1:30 in the morning when Dennis and I sat down wondering how we were ever going to get any sleep… when I realized something… that I had left the pieces out in the back yard…  We very carefully and with lots of light retrieved the pieces and I brought them inside, along with the dog.

Then we all went to sleep… and I think these pieces will get gifted in a lake… I don’t need to attract bears, we have critters like goats and chickens around here…
