Thieving dog…

by on Dec.12, 2013, under Crystals, Nature, Slideshow blog

I have my own way of cleaning crystals – we have a creek next to the house where I like to leave crystals in bags to get washed and clear before I send them out.  This has been very successful – until today… when our Pyrenees decided he wanted the bag the crystals came in…  He spread about forty pounds of quartz around the yard in the process…  Here is the evidence – along with the “innocent” dog…

This is how I sometimes leave bags in the creek (this is an old rice bag that I like cause it has a zipper):

This is what I came back to…

They are even in the water…

and pup does not understand why I am not as proud as I should be…

Of course the border collie has that look of amusement – she would never….

but he did get the bag in the end… and you seriously can’t be mad at a face like this for very long…

Now I’m off with a fresh bag to start picking up crystals…

Blessed by “The Ladies”

I had some TB’s out curing in the sunshine when “The Ladies” decided to take a closer look.

Of course there is always that one who has to do things different… lucky they had cured…

Butterfly summer

by on Sep.23, 2013, under Nature, Slideshow blog

This summer we have had more butterflies than I have ever seen in one place – that includes some of the butterfly places I have visited.  Since May there has been constant action and we are now in September and they are still around.  We were initially a little dismayed to find that what they really like to eat is crap… which is something we have plenty of being we have goats…  After they swarmed my laundry I discovered that I could just wet a towel with plain water and they would enjoy that which makes for much better photos 😉

Casting with Osha root

by on Aug.26, 2013, under Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

It was discussed and asked on our forum if anyone had cast orgone pieces with Osha root and none had so I decided to try… and now I will share my thoughts on why it may not be a good idea…

One of my goats somehow found a bag of it that I had been given and forgotten about in our bathroom…  After it was discussed as an experiment on the board I got everything ready.

I mixed up some resin and decided to try it three different ways.  Three martini glasses were used and the first one just got a tip of clear resin, the second one I mixed in just a spoonful of Osha root into the resin and the third one I mixed in copper shavings with the root.  I got this started and decided to go photograph this hornets nest down the road that had I wanted to take a picture of.  I got down there and went “what!!!” since the nest had been destroyed just a few minutes before, it was laying on the ground they were all buzzing around, angry and confused.  I then saw bear tracks heading up the hill and realized that some poor bear had walked into this nest and then rushed up the hill just before I got there…  Didn’t take any photos then… but got one today, here is the nest on the ground:

I went home and finished my pieces and realized that any resin that had the root in it had not cured – there must be some oils on it that prevented it from hardening.  The glass that I had mixed copper shavings and root together in had hardened on the bottom where the copper was but the root was floating on top and that resin was completely uncured…  I had to figure out how to solve that so made some resin with extra hardener that I put in the next layer and hoped for the best.  The glass that had just resin with root in the tip was uncured so I just carried on and made the HHG as usual.  That one I had to double cast since the tip was a mess:

Here is a picture of the two I made (the third one I decided to do something else with):

Each one:

The first one I had to double cast to get the stickiness out, the second one that has the second layer with the root is spongy and probably will be forever.

Then it got really crazy last night… when our dog started barking like mad late at night… and would not stop for three hours…  She has never done that before and kept wanting to run out in the yard to scare something off, using the biggest voice she has to tell them “don’t come here”.  She kept barking even after I brought her in and cause there must be a bear outside and that is why she kept alerting, running to the window, sniffing and letting us know with her most serious voice.

It was 1:30 in the morning when Dennis and I sat down wondering how we were ever going to get any sleep… when I realized something… that I had left the pieces out in the back yard…  We very carefully and with lots of light retrieved the pieces and I brought them inside, along with the dog.

Then we all went to sleep… and I think these pieces will get gifted in a lake… I don’t need to attract bears, we have critters like goats and chickens around here…

Beautiful Dahlias

by on Aug.25, 2013, under Nature, Slideshow blog

Went to the local Farmer’s Market this morning and someone was selling these amazing beautiful Dahlias – had to take photos to share after laying them out in the back yard.

The butterflies like them 🙂

And of course one of the goats had to investigate…

The amazing beauty of rocks…

by on Aug.15, 2013, under Nature, Slideshow blog

We have this incredible creek running right by our house and one of my favorite things to do is spend quite a bit of time romping around with goats, cats, dogs and chickens finding cool stones that I keep around for a while before putting them back.

Some of them are so stunning in the way that nature carved them into shapes that I had to share…

Orgone cubes

by on Jul.26, 2013, under Crystals, Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

We had a little joke here earlier today where I admitted that one of my talents was often pouring lopsided pieces… cause it just seems like the table is never level…  and so I decided to put that into use.

I made these little squares in similar fashion to the tilted martini glass one I tried last week.  Pouring layers while tilting the mold and letting it gel in between, then tilting the mold the other way doing another layer.

They came out looking amazing… with the second batch much better than the first (for some reason the bronze powder layer that looks brown didn’t exactly cast shiny…).

Here are some pictures:

But wait… there is more…

Now I am starting to have this strange thing going on around here – Coco the chicken REALLY likes orgonite and getting her photo taken… but she’s so cute that I really don’t mind… 😉DSC_0117

I love Farmer’s Markets

by on Jul.20, 2013, under Nature, Slideshow blog

This morning hubby and I finally got up in time to go to our local market, last weekend we could not get out due to a fallen tree and the weekend before we got there too late – everything was pretty much sold out by the time we arrived.  Today we got to do some good shopping of organic veggies and once we got home I had to get the camera out since they were just too colorful not to.  Here are some pics of what we got today.

My husband picked this one 😉

and this one…

Then my photo session got completely interrupted… Coco the chicken decided to visit… and inspect the produce – she gave her approval 🙂

Chia the guardian wasn’t so sure about chicken going on the table… and gently tried to tell her so…

Tilting the glass

by on Jul.11, 2013, under Nature, Orgone, Slideshow blog

I discovered that tilting the glass while making an HHG creates an interesting visual if you layer it with colors.  Took the piece out in the back yard to get some shots with different backgrounds 🙂
